    Hi Forum,
    Is anyone able to advise?
I have a 5Yr old Zanussi 50cm Fridge Freezer in my kitchen.
Over the last 2-3months I had the impression it is not switching off, but never was in the kitchen long enough to be sure.
Then this week the fridge section has stopped cooling adequately (there is prehaps a slight cooling) but the freezer still seems very cold and freezes easily.
The thermostat inside the fridge section switches off the whole machine when turned down completely to zero, and there is a red switch on the thermostat which does not seem to do much- I dont know what it is for, and have tried it in both positions-no difference.
There does not seem to any air vents between the freezer and fridge, and I have throughly deforsted it, left it for 48Hrs and dried the insides.
The heat fins at the back are all clean, evaporator tray is dry and pipe to tray from fridge is not blocked.
When I defrosted it there was some ice around a pipe at the top of the freezer section (I assume this is where the coolant comes in to the coils in the freezer).
    All the seals are intact.

So what should I do? is it repairable, or is it time for a new one?
I’m not sure if a thermostat would account for all of this, but would be willing to change it if this seems worth a try.

    many thanks for any replies.

Most probably the compressor is faulty or it’s been bumped allowing the refrigerant out but I’d doubt that latter as it’d have happened faster than you say.

If it’s the compressor then I wouldn’t repair it or advise it due to the cost.

    K.
