As Martin says megger the heater, the dryer heater, if its low it will cause problems.
Not sure of the machine as theres no 4270, but I presume its a ZWD14270W.
The dryer heaters are notorious for causing erronious faults & causing wash programme to stall.
Isolate appliance from power.
After noting wiring positions of cables to dryer element, disconnect them & insulate them.
Try wash programme to see if it runs normally, if it does & goes faulty when cables connected to dryer element you’ve found the fault.January 24, 2013 at 4:39 pm #388447delta01

thanks Seamey will try that, just remembered i had a similar fault some years ago that was the dryer heater, although i would have expected it to show up on the general megohms test thanks again …John

It should indeed show up in a general Megger test at the plugtop, only needs to be less than 40 meg.

It will work as a washer without the dryer heater connected as far as I remember. But now that you’ve sussed it why not stick in a dryer heater & completely repair it.

i might but i rent washers out and have a surplus o cwd’s and its a sealed tub so i don’t want to spend money on a heater in case the bearings fail
