ParticipantWell, actually it has only happened once before about two or three months ago. Now the customer has rung to say it’s done it again and says it has, “pulled the door seal off” this time, and unsurprisingly, that there was an almighty crash.
I am aware that the springs have little nylon inserts to stop them biting into the plastic and I made sure they were in place last time and there was no damage to either of the holes.
Along with this she mentioned that hot washes (60 and hotter) were taking FIVE HOURS but 40 washes on delicates were running normal time. Is there a connection there?
Anyone had similar experiences?

I wouldn’t rule out a tacho fault with the motor any codes stored?

No connection I wouldn’t think. Duff heater and a dodgy tacho connection somewhere.

Blocked pressure system?

I’ve had a few of these. The machine runs ok, but when the motor gets hot it suddenly tries to spin fast, fully loaded and full of water. machine jumps around for a second then stops.
Solution was always to change the motor.March 2, 2013 at 1:31 am #391096leavemetogetonwithit

Well, I went and put the spring back yesterday (Friday) and poked around the tacho connections, checked the magnet was tight and so on. Motor is an ACC. Checked the heater was Ok and the ntc connection firm. Meggered machine and got about 2.5M, heater on its own off the scale.
Put m/c on to test and it wouldn’t start. Asked for last error and got E41. Had a look at door switch and noted clear sign of overheating and it was hot to touch. No switch on board and wasn’t sure about which of 4 wires to bridge so arranged another call for next week. Noted also that drain hose has been extended to approximately 3 metres with a spigot join at halfway so could well be intermittent draining issue, maybe even syphoning.
To be continued.
Thanks for the help so far.

Went back to this about a week ago. Installed new interlock and ran through the diagnostics quickly. Machine now working OK but had a recorded error of E51 – shorted triac (checked that twice.) Did not delete it as couldn’t remember how. Am wondering if there is an intermittent short in the loom somewhere or possibly on the motor wiring itself (which would explain codlets’ experience.) Anyway I left it for customer to do her own test. She has reported back that it works fine so far but still has the problem of extended times on hot wash (60 deg) but OK on synthetics (40 deg.) Further questioning revealed that it doesn’t get past main wash on hot prog. and she comes to it hours later and resets it to a rinse and spin programme :rolls: . So, me thinks there probably be something amiss around the heating circuit somewhere but don’t get why it works OK on 40 😕 . Oh well, she’s happy for the time being and I’ll pop in next time I’m over that way and it coincides with her day off.

Check the tacho coil out after it is warm and you will probably find it gives intermittent readings. I had one that was doing exactly as codlets described – sudden kick to spin when full of water then stops dead, no error lights just sets the program lights back to the state they were when you select the program.

Thanks Jem. Will make a note to pack my heat gun on next trip 😉 .
