Many thanks for your interest – and patience – Martin. I am pleased you kinda reckon on the same department as me….it does appear to be getting too much water into the machine and obviously it has to go somewhere and I know the seals are not really designed to hold back a tsunami!!! Ma in Law’s offer is still on the table (as an anniversary present) so I suppose I’m gonna have to swallow the male pride and admit defeat. I also take into account the age of the machine. I did notice the “float” switch / mechanism is £30-odd pounds too so throwing money at it just seems daft.

Many thanks Martin…….my how I am learning on these machines! Obviously NOT the cause of my continued leak though. Water continues to POUR out of the bottom door on the machine. I gathered about 3 litres (plus what was on the kitchen floor) before switching it off. Then removed a further 15 litres from the floor well. Would this indicate the machine is continuing to fill with water – NOT switching off the water input thus indicating a faulty “float” ?

FINALLY got to the bottom of this problem……e-spares had sent me the correct part number on the packet BUT the WRONG part inside…….received replacement and fitted no bother at all…….BLOODY THING STILL LEAKS.
If anyone IS interested I’ve now taken on a bit of a personal “crusade/Mission” to get to the bottom of this. I’ve taken a pic of the BOTTOM of the machine and there is this odd scenario. There is what appears to be two plastic bottles (one-unit) and on one side the bottle appears full with what looks like minestrone soup – and we don’t even like the stuff!!!! Any ideas…..I can easily send the pic100949football

Thanks Brian:
Numbers on the machine are 32094005 then 9930 then underneath these numbers 4533 – this information is stamped four times on the label across the top right hand front of the inner door fixing.
Many thanks

Thanks Brian,
I’ve sent an email with pic of both seals – old and new – they look different to me!!!! Thank you.100949football

Yes that’s the part number supplied by e-spares but it is NOT the same as the one I removed from the door of the Hoover Crystaljet D820 .
I have tried “press-fitting” the new seal around the “goal-post” frame but either it’s wrong or I’m doing something wrong but I then can’t get the door shut!
BTW I wouldn’t rule out “I’m doing something wrong” !!!!!
There is also DEFINITELY some form of OLD “sealant” around the edges of the top and side gasket “holders”!100949football

Are e-spares not entirely “clever” at supplying the correct parts then?
Anyone know if Service Manuals are available to download – I only want the pages changing door seal?100949football

Hi Martin,
you are correct it would appear – so far as Hoover are concerned – I am indeed up the creek without the proverbial “paddle” !
I have ALL the components off the machine now.
I had to remove BOTH side panels AND the top cover (hidden 7mm and one 5.5mm sneaky screw bolts abounding) all off the machine.
I have the two side and one top plastic surrounds which would appear to cover the seal. However there is no obvious way – unless I am missing the obvious – to refit the new seal without using some form of adhesive?
Alarmingly the old seal and the new seal also appear different ???????100949football

Hi friend,
thank you for your input and concern.
by the “wash-paddle” do you mean the spray spindle? Many thanks…..Bill I’m still awaiting some response from Mr Hoover, on-one seems to know the model there?……so long as it’s not the J. Edgar type?????

Wish it were that easy friend?
There is definitely some silicone or other fixative there too and I’ve had it since new! Many thanks for your attention though!
I’ve made enquiries to Mr Hoover – I’ll keep you posted! IF I receive the courtesy of a reply?

Hi Martin,
appreciate all that.
The machine has operated perfectly for the previous 9.11 years / months and has not been moved so the levelling should not be an issue.
I had already moved on from your “test” advice and removed ALL the intricate / tricky / sneaky parts required to get at the door seal “goalpost” until the final hurdle. I removed the old seal – came away no problem, although It did appear to be silicone sealed????>
Now the problem….. how do I fit the new seal as there appears no way it can simply be pressed into place – like Mr Smugo at e-spares demonstrates – without removing the stainless steel side / top “clamps” and they appear (mebe I’m wrong) part of the whole stainless steel interior!!!!
I am also, at this stage, dubious that e-spares have supplied the correct part as it appears bigger than the original I have removed and the channelling is different too!
Like you say – I am having fun on a Sunday …….”Ma-InLaw” has made the offer of a new dishwasher but I am now at the stubborn stage and wanting to fix this one – for goodness sake it’s a water leak!!!!!!!!!!
Many thanks for your attention though it is greatly appreciated…..very surprised I can’t find ANYTHING on “tintertnet” about this make / model. No service manual / no help nowt!!!!
Even e-spares won’t offer any advice – “in case they are held liable”……..and Hoover don’t want to know – of course, they want me to take up “ma-In”Law’s” offer don’t they?? – if I do it won’t be a Hoover though. Despite it being of good service for around ten years I’d rather get one like “Mr Smugo” at e-spares demonstrated – that looks a cinch! Although I would feel there is a marked difference in demonstrating from an obvious brand-new machine to one that has been around the block for some time! The D820 is now lying in multiple parts…..I suppose knowing WHAT to do is the problem.
If you have any further info/advice – apart from “ma-In-Law” – please let me know. I am now a bit like a dog with a bone and my “male-pride” is also hurting a bit!!!!!
