Re: Hotpoint Ultima 1200 WM35 Spin Problem

Thanks to Martin and the spares team.

Fitted the new armature, bedded in the new brushes, and reinstalled the motor. Spin speed back up to 1200, but still refused to complete the cycle, getting stuck on the fast spin.

Oh, dear! Still, the machine is usable, but has to be manually advanced the last step, so can’t be left unattended. Marilyn is delighted that it spins again, but accepts this limitation.

Three washes later, M is on the phone, and the machine is spinning away merrily, so she ends phonecall and starts towards kitchen……Machine suddenly stops spinning and goes into the untangle part, then finishes. M delighted, and it seems to work every time now.

No idea why, but glad it’s cured itself.

    Thanks again, Iain.

PS, anybody wanna buy a slightly second-hand armature???

    😀

    Re: Hoover WDM130 Water level

    Thanks Dave,

It’s not a new machine, I have just taken it over from The Boss, who is now too ill to use it. I checked the filter and the pump outlet, no problems there. I read in the instruction booklet that it is very rare to see water in the drum, so I imagine that it is meant to run with insufficient water to properly immerse the clothes. I did a Number 4 load, and added 4 gallons of warm water from a watering can through the soap tray after the wash cycle had stareted, so that the water level was about one inch up the door glass. Similarly, I added 2 gallons of cold water to each of the rinses, and at the end of the program, lo and behold, clean clothes and with soap solution left in. It is obvious to me that in order to make the machine as energy efficient as possible, Hoover have cut down too far on the water consumption. I would far prefer to have clean, soap free washing at the expense of using an extra 10 gallons of water and a bit of extra power to heat it up, than have a machine that cannot perform correctly. Does anyone know where I can get a repair manual for this machine, to see if it is possible to adjust the water level in the drum?

    Regards, Iain.
