a quick update now that I think the problem is solved. you were spot on Dave, and it wasn’t the washing machine but the dishwasher that had been brought back in from the shed on Friday and plugged in. it caused the breaker to trip on the original circuit and also on the second circuit that i ran the washing machine off of to see if it would trip (and the washing didn’t cause a trip). thanks to a fix it video on you tube i was able to open up the dishwasher today and there was this little dead mouse stuck across something electrical looking… i have just run a cycle on the dishwasher and no tripping of the circuit, so i’m hoping the dead mouse was the only problem and now fixed. thanks for the advice

Thank you Dave. After I posted I thought it could be some other appliance. I have pulled the machine out and couldn’t find any dampness under the machine or near the socket. I’ve just finished running another load by plugging it into a different circuit, and will wait to see if it trips in an hour or so (I also made sure the feet are steady). I’ll check with the machine not plugged in as you suggested to see if it’s one of the other appliances. They were allo plugged in with sockets turned on but none were in use but I suppose they could have been pulling power, microwave would have been using power to run the clock. I’ll update when I have more info from the little tests mentioned. thanks again. Debbie
