    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

Thanks again to you all, a simple case of cleaning out the chamber (as described by nomadPaul above) and all now appears to be working well again…

Would the dishwasher cleaners available in supermarkets work at cleaning this in future? Or does it require a periodic strip down and clean?

Seems like a weak design for it to clog in a four year old machine…

    Regards,

    AB.

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

apologies for the previous posts, i hadn’t run a full cycle at that point.

I have now tried to run a full cycle…

The fault code ‘1’ appears (as it did with the last problem, but this time the heater isn’t open circuit, and is getting 240v when required) but this time i believe it is due to water level during the cycle. The machine fills as it should, filling the clear plastic reservoir to the left of the machine, and starts washing, but when i returned to the machine during the washing most of the water had gone, and when left for the cycle to end, it never ends, but the machine is empty and it sounds like it is still trying to pump out…

    What can this be?

I can’t afford to spend more money on parts for an unreliable machine, so please say it’s something cheep to fix…

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

On further inspection the top arm is in fact working, but when the door is opened the water pressure doesn’t seem as high as it use to be…

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi Martin,

But i have only just replaced this part!!! (read previous posts)

Do the arms work independently of one another? If so then this may not be the problem…

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi All,
The machine has been working fine for a few months, but has now developed a new fault…

The top spray arm isn’t moving, and the pressure seems reduced to the lower spray arm.

    Where should i be looking?

Once again, any help much appreciated.

    Regards,

    AbingdonBoy.

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi Greg,

Thanks again for the further help….

After i wrote the mail i started to think about it and came to the same conclusion, have reinstalled the U bend (removed during original fix) and all is now fine.

Where is the non return flap? I might give it a clean….

    Thanks again.

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi All,

The dishwasher has a new fault!

Since the last fix (not sure if it is connected or not) the machine has been filling with the waste water from the sink. Have i reassebled something wrong? What should i be looking for?

    Cheers,

    AB.

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

Well the machine is now working again. It was the heater element.

To replace the heater is quite straight forward, but it does require the whole machine coming apart…

Its not too bad, and everything is T20 Torx headed, except the salt cover nut, which could cause you problems, i used one of those universal clamp things that you use to hold big things together while glue dries, but a big adjustable spanner or a big grip wrench is probably better if you have one.

Here is a quick rundown –

    Remove-
-the top (two clips at the back, then slides off)
    -both sides (a few screws).
-the inner and outer front kick plates (few screws).
-the door outer cover/trim (quite a few screws)
-the heat exchanger to the left of the machine on the side (screws and clips)
-the salt fill cover and big sealing nut.
-the two clamps holding the white pump housing to the base of the washing compartment (stainless steel box), and the two screws holding the grey pipe.
-The door counter balance springs(unhook at the door hinge with the door in the up position.
-few screws around the s/steel box

Now the full stainless steel box can be lifted free, and allowed to hinge forward on the door hinges.

Replace the heater and reassemble. Easy!!!

As others have stated, don’t attempt unless you are mechanically and electrically competent, and always remember to switch off the power.

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi Greg,

right i am really getting somewhere nw, i have measured resistance directly accross the heater, and it’s open circuit, so my heater has gone…

But how do i get the heater out? Is there a special tool to remove the plastic flange from the manifold? where is best to get the replacemetn part? why would the heater on such a young machine have gone? Coud it have blown because something else is faulty?

    Many thanks,

    AB.

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi Clive/Greg

Right, i have stripped the programmer down to the PCB, but can’t see any dry joints. I assume that the heater is fed through one of the relays on the board? But is it ‘K1’ or ‘K2’ ?

What is the colour coding on the heater wiring and what should the resistance be ?

Anything else i should be checking ?

Many thanks for your help so far…

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi Greg,

no hadn’t thought about it, but yes, the water is cold. So its a heating fault, how complex is that to fix?

    Re: siemens dishwasher programmer problems?

    Hi,

Removed the pipe, and although there was some waste in it, it was slight, and it hasn’t solved the problem…

    Any other ideas?

    Regards,

    AB.
