Thanks for the speedy reply (& advice!!).
I’ve located a small white cylinder (about 1.5″ long) but it’s at the top of the machine (for easier access?) – to look anywhere else will mean quite a lot more dismantling – would this be the one?
The markings are: KPB 7336 X1Y2
0,1 uF +2 x5000 pF

Hello again!!!?
In the words of Victor Meldrew “I don’t believe it!”…
After sorting out the heater, now the drum won’t turn from start up. If I help round the little flywheel/fan wheel at the bottom (round the back when the cover is removed) the drum turns – until it stops before reversing or going the same way.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Thermostat kit arrived this morning (superb service as only ordered 36hrs earlier!).
Had priced new models as I thought 5.5yrs was pretty good going for a machine that had taken daily hammer from a family of four. Was a bit sceptical as to whether this would fix the problem but, after replacing the old thermostat bits, the heat came on again.
Wife has since done two loads and it worked like a dream! She can’t do enough for me at the moment!!??!!
Anyway thanks for the advice and great service.
Happy New Year!

Dead impressed with the speed of reply!!
I bought the unit in April 1999 and the serial number is 62100585.
I’m pretty handy and have already taken off the back and sides but can’t see too many user-friendly bits! If the parts are fairly easy to get, I would have a go at fixing.
Perversely the Creda factory is only 9 miles away and I used to knock about with 3 guys who used to work there before redundancies took their toll!
Cheers

Thanks for coming back so quickly. Would this be a cost effective repair (roughly how much?) or would it be cheaper to buy a new one?
Cheers
