Thanks, I have checked the belt and that is in place. I am thinking the initial problem being the filter which is sorted, but by leaning the machine on its side might have created the next problem with the drum not turning, is that possible?

When I switch the cycle on the machine makes a noise a low whirring sound instead the drum turning sounds as if it wants to turn.
