Re: Bosch pump faulty?

I’ve just bought a Bosch WFF2000 from gumtree. The owner was keen to show me it working (not plumbed in, in the hallway!) which I thought was odd – turned out it doesn’t drain.

It just made a vibrating noise when trying to drain
I tried the little drain pipe, nothing

Unscrewed the pump filter cover, and there was no water in it, the noise was the pump spinning round with no water in the chamber.

I spent a while groping the big hose coming from the tub to the pump, and I came across a ball shaped thing.

For the life of me, I couldn’t work out how the water was supposed to get out of the drum, when the bottom of the tub had this odd ball shaped thing; then I came across this thread, worked out it was a sump ball, and it was supposed to be squigy – mine was stuck fast. With a great deal of tugging, it suddenly became squidgy, and the hose filled with water – I turned it back on and it drained like a dream.

So – thank you very much for your help, even though you never knew you were helping me!

P.S> it seems quite gunky down there, can anyone recommend a chemical cleaner that will de-gunk a machine?
