If you find yourself stuck, leave the problem for the next day.
Looked at the machine again this evening, and realised the tensioners sit almost at the bottom of the machine between the plastic sides and the metal frame on which the door and compartment is mounted. Quite obvious when you thin about it.
I now have a dishwasher! 2 months later.

Martin, appreciate your persistence with this. The plastic tensioners are easy to take apart by unclipping – I did this to get them out of the way and they are intact.
I can only imagine I did break the fixing between the tensioner and base, but I only recall it unclipping and certainly not breaking. (That’ll be why I stick to my day job!)
Looking at the parts web site – is the ‘base snap-in fixing’ you refer to part number 165296 (bearing) or is it part of the tensioner itself? And if it is part of the tensioner, is the small clip on the tensioner seen on my first picture part (broken) of the fixing? It doesn’t look like snapped plastic to me…

An update. Hopefully the last!
As it transpires, it was not the sump/drain connection after all. I was on my knees for 40 minutes watching the base while the machine was on. After removing the water inlet plate I could see the leak was actually from what I believe is the heater unit (from back, to the left of the water inlet) (though its very wide so not sure what the whole thing does!) From here I could see two steady drips, and with luck also saw a tiny continuous squirt of water (which must have been feeding the drips). The squirt was coming from the connection of this unit from the sump (Im guessing this is the unit that circulates water from machine through heater, back to machine etc.) Also by lcuk I noticed the unit was hanging down at an angle, and 1.5cm above the unit was a clip on the sump – intelligence (!!) suggested the unit should be clipped to this, thereby reducing pressure on the seal thereby sealing it!
Sure enough. The machine did a full auto-cycle without stopping, which it has never done before. No sign of water in the base after one auto cycle (2 hours) and on quick wash (40 mins).
I acquired the machine second hand from eBay, though the seller did ‘assure’ me it had never been used (it was in an immaculate condition). On reflection, I would imagine the heater must have unclipped whilst being moved from house – car – house – kitchen.
As for the warranty, as I aquired it second hand, I had no receipt or knowledge of the warranty period. In addition, Bosch charge for the call out I believe, whether the fault is in warranty or not? Finally, it hadn’t exactly been careful with it whilst transporting – it was on its back in the car I recall. The 2 year Bosch warranty is transferable so long as the new owner has receipt and the machine was registered. Obviously it does not cover transportation problems.
Finally the door tensioners! One of those moment of ‘that looks simple so wont pay attention as to how its assembled to ease re-assembly’. I can see how the coupling fits to the door, but the plastic pullies (tensioners) do not appear to have anywhere to fix and thefore when the door moves, they do too! If I recall when I took the machine apart, they unclipped but cannot for the life of me work out where from!
I have taken a photo and hope someone may be able to give some direction. (The string has been removed from the tensioner as it snapped out while I tried to pull them obviously at the wrong angle.)

The only place I could really observe the drip was by removing the plastic plate which holds the mains water inlet connector. This means the leak is from behind the sump, to the right (as viewed from behind) of the heater. A closer inspection showed the leak was landing on a raised part of the base…
The base has a channel running front to back, slightly to the left (viewed from front) of machine. Towards the back is an angled (small) portion to this which I presume is designed to channel leaks landing on it into the channel.
When I had the machine apart a visual guess led me to believe it was the drain pipe leaking. Nothing more scientific than that!
I have not tested it yet on a full cycle so do not if I had identified the correct leak or whether the repair was successful. I will test it tonight.
I did not take the door off. I raised the level of the compartment away from the base to give me better access and visibility. Appreciate this is not the most appropriate method (some of the rubber seals around the sump began to leak due to weight of the motor) – but it got the job done!
If this doesn’t work then thank you, I probably will give you a ring to schedule another visit.

An update on this. Martin visited and did not find a problem. Being a little frustrated at shelling out money and still not even knowing what the problem is I took to looking myself.
A quick 5 minute investiagtion revealed one or two parts with a minor drip during the drain cycle. While it looked as though it was the heater leaking, I’m guessing it could not have been since it was only during the drain cycle.
So, after spending much time trying to take the machine apart, electrocuting myself and splashing around in lots of water (only kidding!) i disconnected the drain pipe from the unit to the bottom of the storage compartment. There was one rubber seal on there, so have added another one.
A qucik test of the machine while in a non-complete state showed no further leaks. I will perform a proper test tonight. Here’s hoping!
Which leads me onto the next question. Whilst taking the machine apart I removed the door tensioners from the side of the compartment and disconnected them from the door – can anyone tell me how on earth to put them back again?! In my haste I have forgotten. I can provide more details if required, but a brief sysnopsis is I dont know how to connect the tensioner to side of the compartment again.
Thoughts?
