Ok guys, here we go. Didn’t get as much time on as I’d hoped due to family pressures. People keep wanting to cook!
So,set oven to 50 deg, seemed to warm up fine, fan working.light went out.
Set knob to 100c, light goes out, temp increases to 110c before light goes out. temp falls to 84. Light comes on, temp rises to 86 and light goes out again. ( Am using a thermocouple placed in the oven, connected to a remote reader, has been calibrated so i think it is accurate)
At this point the fan is going quite slowly.( Temp at 75c)
Increase knob to 200c, light comes on, temp goes up to 205c then light goes out.
Open the door, fan going slower, light comes on at 120c goes up to 155c, goes out.
Now the fan has stopped. Will go with a flick, but doesn’t keep going.
Turned knob up to full, 250c,fan hardly moving, light out at 210c, but temp did rise to 260c. Light on again at 183, off at 212. On at 200, off at 216. On at 197, off at 210.
Anyway, the fan hardly moves once the oven is warm so I will fit a new one. Seems to move back and forth about 6mm on its spindle. But only seems to work when oven is cold.
The oven thermostat capillary is located quite close to the element, am I right in saying it is more effected by radiant heat from the element because the fan isn’t working? The way the indicator light works makes me think the thermo controller is ok, just operating at the wrong temp.
Sorry if I’ve gone on a bit, I did take loads more data than above, but you get the general idea.

Thanks Dave, thermostat was supplied by servastdirect, their product code ser00076125 but I think a generic part no is 818731181. Chap had been onto Italian supplier and they said 3 different manufacturers made them, none the same but should all work. Mine didn’t have earth tag like the original but managed to put one on. Is the fan supposed to stop and start with the element clicking on and off as it reaches temperature? Yes, lights come on and off like they are supposed to, just to soon coz temperature has not been reached.
Will have another check over the weekend with your suggestions, with volt meter and an oven thermometer.
