ParticipantHopefully final update on this, I reworked the control board, replaced the triac and 2 resistors.
The machine ran for 3 cycles and then blew the triac again. I repaired the board again and did a detailed inspection of the loom. On a part of the loom at the back of the machine a wire had over time rubbed through it’s insulation. Replaced the whole wire end to end.
Machine now happily running again!

Dave
Dave,
Thanks, to ensure accuracy I’ve taken a pic of the label.
Thanks

Dave,
Otherside of board confirms board is toast : (
Any idea where I can get a replacement?
Thanks.

its not smoke, see it all the time around high voltage components and these are operating at 300v DC
Dave
Dave,
Any further suggestions where I go from here?
Thanks
Alex Facey
ParticipantIt very looks like “magic smoke” evidence to me but okay, next thing then is I’m still no closer to knowing why it won’t run the drain pump?
All the help and suggestions are very much appreciated though guys!

Did you try the top link out of the 2?

Participantelectrofix wrote:are you sure this is the correct public link as it does not seem to work
Dave
Dave,
Thanks for the heads up, link has now been edited.

Participantiadom wrote:Examine the small connector plug to the pump, I have seen the slightest sign of arcing due to water ingress damage this plug but you really need to look very closely to see it. Sadly if that is the case then module damage has often occurred. A quick visual on the component side of the module usually shows signs of component damage. The water inlet hose from the soap dispenser often leaks as the adhesive sealant deteriorates.
Thanks for the advice, I’ll give the connector and control board a more detailed inspection and see what I can find.

Thanks for the reply, unfortunately when I disconnect the power and earth wires from the element it made no difference.

Participantelectrofix wrote:was the pump faulty when you removed it ?
did it look like water had been dripping on it ?dave
Dave,
No the pump looked okay and meters out okay, new pump displays exactly same symptoms of just never trying to run.

ParticipantAnyone got any suggestions please, all I can think of now is replacing the control board but don’t want to just throw money at it.
