How can I test if it’s the element? It tests ok cold (continuity and similar resistance to the other elements). The old element was the original. I’m loathe to throw more elements at it before properly understanding the problem. It is a cheap element.

The old element does not have continuity and didn’t give a resistance reading so I think it is broken or shorted inside, although I can’t detect a short to the casing with my multimeter.
