Ok… as a follow on to this saga I ended up replacing yet another condensor on the machine at a later date and then last month it started tripping the house RCD continually. I took it apart again, made sure everything was dry and clean, still no joy, brought the multi meter home and started chasing wiring, still no joy and at which point I lost patience with it and got another second hand IS70C. The first one was stripped down and all the parts I have replaced on it over the last year have been kept for spares for this one.
This one however, just this morning has started blowing plug fuses (not the house RCD this time) and I am at the point of throwing my hands up in utter despair. I havent looked at it yet, I am struggling to find the enthusiasm in all honesty. However if anyone can suggest a good place to start please feel free. I am so completely hacked off with them its unreal.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thank you 🙁

We have a working tumble dryer again 🙂
Thank you iadom.
I had not given it a thought that the door latch could be at fault again so there I have learned something. Definitely not to assume is one thing :error:
Out of interest I have informed the two appliance repair companies that I had been talking too that the pcb was removed after serial number 60327.0000
One company thanked me very much for letting them know and said that they too have learned something.
The other company (whom I have purchased MOST of my spare parts through) turned around and said that well, if I had given them the tumble dryer to repair then it would of been their problem, not mine. Correct indeed but not the way I expected to be spoken to, as a paying customer. I know who I will be approaching in the future should I need to purchase any further spares

Thank you 🙂 I have been speaking to two local appliance repair shops and both of them were adamant that I had to have a pcb board. Without wanting to sound like I know better than them I have had this machine completely dismantled now and I know I hadnt seen anything resembling it. And it wasn’t rocket science for me to follow the wiring throughout and know there wasn’t one, lol. So thank you, I now know I havent completely lost it.
Serial number of my dryer is 709110834
With regard to the door switch can I just confirm that you mean the part operated by the actuating pin? I have rang and ordered a replacement using the part number that you gave me but my only seed of doubt is that I changed this back in October? Are they known to be an issue or is it more likely that I have just been plain unlucky? 😕 Or could there be something which could be affecting that and causing premature failure?
Regardless, thanks for your help. I had not thought to look at the door switch again, in all honesty I think I have spent too much time on it now and its getting to me, 😛 :haier:

Back to this machine. AGAIN! 🙁
After the door switch episode the dryer worked fine. Up until mid December that is. Then I had the same symptoms as if the capacitor had failed again. The capacitor was replaced last year right at the start of this thread or thereabouts. So I tried changing the capacitor again. To no avail. Picking the brains of a local company the next step was to change the motor according to them. So I did. I also purchased a 3rd capacitor just in case I had had the misfortune to be sold a duff one. Whilst its been in bits I also changed the drum shaft and bearing and put a new belt on. The jockey wheel was done earlier last year. All to no avail. The machine is having none of it. You press the button to start it and it buzzes but cannot and will not start rotating, even if you press the switch and try rotating it by hand at the same time. Now two local companies are telling me about a relay/printed circuit board which could be at fault. I have looked at photos of it so I know what to look for but I am blowed if I can find it in my machine. I have had the machine in absolute pieces changing the motor but I’ve seen no sign of it. Apparently its meant to be at the top behind the fascia panel on the right, close to where the time is. It definitely isn’t 🙁 Now either I am being incredibly stupid, or there isn’t one. I have followed ALL the wiring throughout the machine and it’s just not there.
Any ideas anyone. There has to be some reason WHY this machine won’t go 👿

No need to change the motor, once the door switch itself was changed the machine worked.
Just thought I’d let you know as I offered to and you seemed to want to 😉 😉

Thank you, yes I understand what you meant but I have already checked the actuating pin itself before I registered on here and it is in one piece. However I wasnt too clear in my post on what I have ordered which is the mechanism what goes inside at the back of where the door pin goes in. I removed it and took it into a local repair place where they are ordering one in for me. I have also brought a replacement latch itself.
As for the motor, I may or may not need it but if it turns out I do need it after doing the door switch repairs then I will have a go at it. I do have a decent tool kit (I am a qualified mechanic so thats not an issue). Yes its a lot different to working on a vehicle but if I can change an engine I wont be beaten by a tumble drier. (Although there may be a few choice words flying about, for sure). I’ve ordered the parts now but if this had happened earlier in the week I’d have brought home my multimeter and checked before ordering anything. Unfortunately this week I’ve been home since last Wednesday. That said I have spent the grand total of £20 so far (switch not included), which if the machine works when I start fitting new bits, will be well worth it in my book. The new switch should be here on Tuesday. I’ll let you know how I get on if you like?

Thank you 🙂 Well I have taken on board what you said and purchased a new door switch (and the motor that I found on ebay). The door has always been a bit temperamental so fingers crossed… As for the motor well it turns out one of my friends is going up to Wales this week so she will collect it for me en route. I am hoping it is the door switch because as you rightly pointed out the motor doesnt look the simplest of jobs, but hey ho, if it ends up having to be done, then it has to be done. I am in no position to buy a replacement dryer :/
