Re: Smeg STX1 E3 water not heating

    Hi KW

Many thanks for your reply. I have tested the tubular heater itself, reads about 40 ohms so presumably is OK. Is there a thermostat somewhere on or close to heater as well do you think?

There is a thermostat (with four terminals) in the parts list but I haven’t been able to find it in the actual machine yet. Its not in the door alongside the temperature probe, even tho thats where smeg service says it should be.

Maybe I’ll have a last look later.

    Kind regards
    Al
(thanks for “parts bingo” , I’m not too keen on playing. )

Re: Smeg STX1 E3 water not heating

I have received a new thermistor from UK whitegoods (very quick thanks!)
dropping the meter on that, it too read OC at room, so assuming that is what it was supposed to do, sent it back for a refund.

Getting the board out and looking at it closely I saw there were a few triacs which looked “fried” next to where the socket had come away. I replaced those, hoping that the total cost of £3.70 would do the trick.

    It wouldn’t.

Any ideas of what next. I’ve no way of testing the chip. Would you try replacing the whole board next? Or call in the cavalry?

    Thanks Kw

At £15 that’s got to be worth a try.

    Kind regards

Re: Smeg type 12140 DWI 45

    Hi folks

I’d be grateful for any ideas with this…..

Smeg STX1 dishwasher, shows E3 error message and doesn’t heat the water.

Water heater checked and R =s @40 ohms which seems about right.

Temperature probe in the door checked and reads open circuit.

I noticed that a terminal connector had come away from the main PCB, so soldered it back on. But still no heat to the water.

I’ve looked very hard for a thermostat thinking that could the next possible culprit, but the temperature probe is connected to the main PCB, So am I right to think there maybe isn’t a thermostat?

Should the temperature probe read open circuit?

Any ideas what to investigate next?

    Many thanks
    Al
