    Re: Hotpoint FF187E door alarm

    helo_75,

    Yes, the shelves sit normally.

Well, well – things seem to have settled down after the first evening, no more alarms and, just as importantly, I have a fridge which actually keeps things cold (Bosch – grrrr 😡 )

Thanks to everyone who offered advice!! This forum really works…

Yes, the magnets (there are two of them) are still present. Very messily glued in, I have to say. Checked that they were seated properly, gave them an extra push into their seating to make sure. Closed the door – firmly, but without the extra push at the top this time. 2 minutes later – no alarm! 😀

Let’s see how things go this evening…

Yeah, I figured air pressure was a long shot 😆 I understand computers better than I understand kitchen appliances – that’s the wife’s domain… 😉

We had to reverse the doors, and did so very carefully. Everything went well – no extra parts left over like when I took apart and reassembled radios as a kid(!), everything seemed to go into the right hole, etc. The door appears to close nice and snugly but, as I said, needs an extra push right at the top to prevent the alarm sounding. If the problem is still happening after being left overnight, I’ll be calling those nice people at Hotpoint in the morning…

    Hotpoint FF187E reversible doors

OK, so after much chasing around we finally have the magic uplift number from Bosch which allows us to get a refund. Next question…

We took a look at the Hotpoint FF187E this weekend. It has reversible doors but a very (and I mean very) brief description of how to do this (a tiny diagram, no words). Does anyone have experience of how easy/difficult this is? The Bosch was fairly straightforward (if a bit fiddly), but at least the diagrams were clear.

    Thanks for any advice,
    Alan.

Yes, I know about the heater mod, but the engineer (from Bosch) didn’t recommend this, and left us with a report which said “unable to repair, authorized for exchange”.

If a Bosch engineer doesn’t think the mod is a good idea…
