The on switch is now flashing 6 times. Does anyone know what that fault is?

Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!

I had the same issues with the clicking relays with my Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer (S20B RBB20-A/G) for the past year and a half. At the weekend it stopped working at all. I changed the 220 nF caps as well as C27 (100nF) and placed another 220nF cap across C1. I used the ones from RS, which are bigger. I got 3 of them to fit and soldered wires into the last 2 holes to which I soldered the last 220nF cap. So the last cap is lying on top of the board.

This seems to have got rid of the relay clicking and when I switch the Fridge/Freezer on, I can hear the relays clicking into place once. However, the compressor isn’t running, so the blower is just blowing room temperature air into the Freezer. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be? There is a black lead that comes off the top of the rear control board, which seems to go to the compressor, and it seems that 240V is being switched through. Also, the fan at the rear also starts after a couple of minutes. Could it be stuck in defrost? How does defrost work, is there a mechanical timer? Do I have a control board(s) problem or a compressor problem?

The service numbers are 858615215000 and 110304000212. Do I need to replace both boards?
