ParticipantMany areas of the UK are not on the mains gas grid. The Highlands of Scotland is notable. As such these areas need “standard” cookers that are designed for LPG.
Yes, some brands sell LPG adapter kits. But with the closure of high street stores, one is left to deal with contact centres that are themselves subcontracted to other companies, in order to find out how to obtain these adapter kits. This is only after one has had to find use internet search engines that do not provide guaranteed answers, hence why I posted on this site.
Information on Thetford cookers would therefore be helpful, since these are ready made for LPG (so one don’t need to gamble on whether the internet site is correct, nor have to deal with poorly trained call centre staff).
In need of a slot-in gas cooker, in an area off the mains gas grid, this is why Thetford seemed a good choice. I am also off-grid for electricity, so in this case 12v ignition was preferred even though I have 240v.
I went to my nearest shop that deals in white goods and they told me to look on-line to find which cooker I wanted and they would try and get it for me. Passing the buck.
By the way, where do you get “at whitegoods we deal in standard household appliances” from? Where is “standard household appliance” defined? For homes only suitable for LPG cookers, Thetford would be a “standard” slot-in in, white, domestic, appliance.
