    But it could be that the flame groove adjacent the thermocouple device is blocked? Check when it cools to see if it is fully clean and clear and that it is seated correctly.

    The flame groove appears to be clean but it’s not seated next to the thermocouple but the ignition spark. The gas never lights at all if the groove is seated next to the thermocouple. Should it?

    The fact that the gas cuts out when on full a few seconds after ignition suggests to me a problem with the thermocouple. However I cannot understand, if the problem is with the thermocouple, why the gas is not cut off when it’s turned down to the point where the outer outer ring is just on and then turned up fully.

    One other thing I observed is that, if the control knob is turned fully anti-clockwise after the burner ignites such that only the inner ring is lit, the outer ring does not re-light when the control knob is turned clockwise. Is this significant?
