It has Philips Whirlpool and no letters after the ARG917 on the panel. can’t find that part number on this site though. Found a reference to it somewher else but the photo of the supposedly equivalent part doesn’t look like it’s got nearly enough conectors.
(This fridge/freezer is probably 20yrs old btw – might that make it an “original 917” ?)

I was in fact mistaken in thinking the existing thermostat had 5 blades + earth. It’s actually that two of hte incoming connectors are doubled-up/back so I’ve actually fitted the K59CL now – waiting to see if it works! Bit fraught routing the thermal probe bit but hopefully I’ve avoided kinking it …

Does your f/f have Philips Whirlpool written on it or does it just say Whirlpool?
If it has Philips Whirlpool written on and there are no letters after the ARG917 it then the stat should be part number 481927128788 which will be available from the shop below.
