    Hi Eldar59
Well this morning was a nice surprise, overnight the 2 flashing lines had turned into a nice to the eye -25 🙂

I have lowered the temp to -20 and all seems good, plus I now hear the fan kick in when I shut the door!

Fingers crossed it’s back to normal, although I’d still like to know what was wrong in the first place, but if it stays as is I wont complain 🙂

Many thanks for your input Eldar59 and I’ll be back if things change, probably with an engineers report and bill lol.

Yes 2 small flashing lines in the freezer temp display window.
I’m confident the cavity and evaporator were well and truly defrosted as everything was warm to the touch and all ice had melted and all water had evaporated, in short everything was bone dry.
I can’t see that the freezer could possibly be below it’s readable scale after that treatment!
I left it another half an hour to cool down before plugging back in.
I have still not heard the fan kick in, although it definitely was working yesterday.

    Hi Eldar59

Freezer evaporator was defrosted with help from a small fan heater over an hour or so until all ice/water including plug blocking drain hole was gone.
When turned back on temp was reported as 22 then returned to flashing — and still is.
I can’t hear the fan start and wonder whether the flashing — relates to a failed fan?
The freezer does seem to be working ( to a degree :)) as there is now a fine layer of ice covering the back wall
