Just to follow up on this in case it’s of any use to someone looking in the future. I went back and tested the following:

– Tested power was getting to pump (successfully tested this time)
– Tested continuity in pump (was getting nothing here – still not sure why)

Decided it was a faulty pump and went to buy new one but stopped just before clicking Buy Now. Went back and took pump apart and found the culprit – a feckin’ stick jamming the motor. Took it out and all is right with the world again.

Ooooh interesting – so worth trying same test to see if power is getting to the pump with the float lifted constantly for a minute or so? I’ll try that tonight. Any idea if it needs to be on a cycle or if it can be tested when the machine is powered but not in cycle?
