Thank you Penguin. Is the inlet valve the flat, square box attached to the water mains pipe? I can feel this vibrating for quite a long time during the period before the actual wash starts. Would that indicate that it is failing or that the water is only trickling through over a prolonged period of time?

Is there anything I can check within the machine? As it is built-in, removing it is beyond my limited DIY capabilities.
