The dishwasher is now working again! After checking for water in the skinny tubes I found that both had some in. The one leading to the inlet water solenoid had quite a lot in it. So I disconneceted both tubes at the actuator ends and blew the excess water back into the sump. Now it all works like a dream. I guess that there was an air leak – it it happens again ther’s enoygh slack in the tubes to cut a piece off and refit with new tube clamps which should fix it.
Now I’ve got to tell the wife – we were on the point of ordering a new Bosch but thankfully you guys have saved me the best part of £300.Thanks a bunch,

OK, I think I’ve traced the tubes. There is a skinny one (orange in colour) than runs from the sump to the inlet water solenoid. The second is a clear tube which runs from the sump to a 2 inch dia disc with 3 terminals on it. Both tubes have some water in them. Judging by one of the replies this isn’t normal?. What next? How do I test these switches? As one is air pressure activated I don’t think I can.
Many thanks again for all your assistance

Checked the tubes again. They are thoroughly clean. It seems not possible to put them back wrongly as they are handed. So we are down to an air leak or a faulty level switch. Finding an air leak would be next to impossible I’m guessing?….so I’d like to check out the level switch. Could you tell me where it’s located and how I can check it out?
Thanks, Peterbelgarboy

Yes, I can hear the fill valve humming. What do you think I should do next?

Thanks for the reply. I re-assembled the machine and tried a rinse cycle. It fills to the correct level now and washes but then stops. Manually clicking it on one notch resumes the cycle. When I tried on a hot wash though, it wouldn’t even fill. Any more thoughts?
Thanks

Hi again Simon,
many thanks for the help. Cleaned the blue tubes and the horseshoe shaped tube under the machine. Still no luck. Removed a 2 chamber plastic affair (one of the chambers is where the salt goes in). The salt chamber is very clean, the other is 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} filled with muck. Is this the IWMS? It’s impossible to flush clean. There is a switch mounted on it – is this the air activated switch referred to in the article? If so all this muck is probably somehow causing it not to operate correctly. If all this sounds reasonable then I will try and find a new part. What do you think?
Once again, many thanks for all your help

Hi again Simon,
I ran it through on the rinse cycle. Here is what happened. The washer filled OK and then washed for about a minute. Then it started taking in yet more water to the point where the washer started to leak around the door because the machine was actually filling up! So I clicked the timer around until I found the drain. On the main wash, the washer wouldn’t take it any water this time. It seems to have a mind of its own. Now I’m really puzzled.
Thanks very much for any help you can give

Thanks Simon, I removed the 2 blue tubes plus the cranked tube and removed no end of crud. Replaced everything but it still doesn’t work. It looks pretty horrible in there generally though. For good measure I also removed and cleaned the horseshoe shaped tube and the mounting spigots that sit underneath the blue tubes, but still no luck. Any more ideas?
many thanks
