I did have that thought myself but we have been used to a Hotpoint toploader for the last 30 years (and what a cracking machine that was, though VERY noisy compared with this one). The main problem, I think, is that the hot water cistern is in the loft of our VERY high ceiling Victorian house and it takes a great deal of running of the hot tap before it runs hot. I know it’s water wasteful but she will just have to ensure that it runs hot before starting the wash. As you say the proof of the pudding is in the eating so we’ll have to wait till this wash cycle finishes (the first) for the results. We ran the test cycle yesterday and there was very little water (didn’t reach the bottom of the door) but we presumed there was some form of sensor to check the load weight.
