    Not good I guess but it’s a brand new motor, surely it must be that that’s making the noise just like the previous one (a slight crackle with each turn of the drum). Sounds like it’s located in the left side of the machine as I look at it?

    An update on this (been on hols hence delay). The Hotpoint engineer came but dealt with my wife as I was at work. Anyway he said the brushes were fine. However the mains cable was a bit melted apparently so he swapped out this and the motor. The machine is running fine, however it is sparking quite a lot. Again, this should be normal with a new motor right?

    Guys, thanks for your replies. The model is WT741P – it’s certainly nowhere near silent! Nor is there a ‘super silent’ logo.

    I called in the warranty today so a Hotpoint engineer will be calling to arrange a visit apparently. Appreciate your advice!
