Thanks for your information and advice.

Even from new though, the fridge section would only just get sufficiently cool if set to the maximum setting. In retrospect I should have complained to the store while in warranty. However, the freezer section seems fine regardless of this setting, so I’m inclined to think that the fridge temp. problem is merely poor design.

I’ll try your suggestion of total defrost and hope that cures the worrying ‘farting’!
