    Re: Lec TF3604W firdge freezer

I owe you guys loads of thanks 🙂

I admit when you said defrost it for two days I thought “you what?” but you were spot on. It actually took just over two days for it to thaw out properly, and in that time about five litres of water came from “somewhere” – very slowly but it just kept coming drip drip drip down into the freezer section – something up inside must have been totally choked up I guess.

A few runs round with the hot air gun and a bit of tweaking has brought the seal back to life – so the door now appears to be airtight – and it is holding both its temperatures fine.

I was about ready to chuck it out as the door seal problem had been annoying me for ages by jamming up the drawers with ice – so learned two things and saved a pile of cash today – thank you VERY much!!

Thanks, I’ll try the seal with my hot air gun and defrost it again over the weekend, hadn’t thought of doing the seal like that.

    Cheers

Thanks for the replies – what is likely to be the actual problem inside then? still blocked up somewhere with ice? I let it defrost normally for about four hours and then warmed through the freezer compartment with a hot air gun until there was nothing more dripping out from the vents in the back.

It’s been ok for at least two years (in terms of holding its temperatures at -24 and +4) since I fitted the door hinges to the other side, I don’t know why the seal leaks as it looks ok, there is no adjustment in the hinges but you can see with a mirror that the seal doesn’t press very hard along the bottom in the middle of the door. We can’t really change it back to hinge on the right hand side as it would make it very hard to open the door.

Yesterday morning it was -20, last night it was up to -11 this morning back down to -20 again, so I’m curious as to what is actually going on to cause it…? I’ll put the main freezer at -18 and see what happens today while we are at work.

    Thanks!
