Yeah, I happened to listen to Martin Lewis BBC podcast after posting that and he said pretty much the same thing.

Unfortunately I think I also have to agree with you on the best course of action being to wait and see what stops working and then fix that. I’ve seen people on here and elsewhere complaining that PCBs died when a pump or motor gave up, but I guess I need to just take that chance. If I buy a £75 pump and it turns out that a £2 solenoid was to blame I’ll feel like a bit of a tit!
