An update…. Some forum members have obviously read my post, but no replies yet. In fact my query looks like it was a false alarm.

In trying out the machine on pre-wash, I may have somehow clicked-through the programme and either interrupted or confused the sequence of filling and emptying.

Having siphoned out the water left inside, I have since run a normal wash cycle with some dishes….. and, hooray, the machine works fine. So whatever I thought I heard earlier, it clearly wasn’t the pump or heater circuit going ‘pop’.

So – fingers crossed that this now almost-vintage machine will continue to operate normally.
