    Thanks for you help. I was hoping I would be able to avoid having to call an engineer in (not least because the machine is damn awkward to access!) but looks like I’m going to have to.

    By the way, this is an excellent site and the speed of response is very useful. I will be sure to check back here next time I’ve got appliance related problems.

    The water does seem to be heating though, when I opened the door I could defnitely feel some heat.

    PS i don’t know if this adds anything to helping solve the problem but before it stopped working completely, it would not progress through a cycle and would get stuck on one stage i.e. the prewash, or the wash and not move on at all.

    Would be very grateful for any suggestions.
