Would that be the oven fan motor as the next thing to try? Would a fault there mean that I was unable to set the clock, once the cooker had fused everything, without tripping everything else again, even when the oven was off?

Thank you for your trouble. He tried the selector switch, but got the wrong one (the new one) which blew immediately he put it in. However, he said that the one that was in there looked fine anyway, and wired it all back up again.
Now the oven is cold I can reset the clock again. But once I put the oven on, it heats up, I switch it off, everything trips. I have had to replace the hard disk on my computer because it has been crashed so many times (this has been going on since October).
I can’t find the model no on the oven casing – it is a 90cm A42. The hob and top oven work fine.

Do you mean the top grill element inside the oven? I have had 2 new back oven elements, so it seems hard to believe that they could both be faulty.
I can’t set the clock at all now, so it is difficult to test anything. I think I might just have to get a new cooker, although as this one was so expensive and it would work fine if I could just get this fault sorted, it is a bitter pill to swallow.

The top oven is working OK, and I can use that without setting the clock (which trips all the fuses). However, he did get replace the (new) element in the main oven, which didn’t change anything. Would that still be an earth leakage? When the oven is warm I can’t even set the clock without tripping everything now.
