Re: Hotpoint FDW80 dishwasher playing dead

Thanks for the replies. Ouch at those prices, esp. without knowing for sure it’ll fix the problem.

Google didn’t give me any useful hits on C00143200. I found an identical looking control module on Ebay but the bar code says ‘-E1-‘, not ‘-F4-‘ like mine below. Is that likely to work? Could be later rev. of the same board or incompatible?

Here are the modules. The LED toggles on/off at about once per second.

From that description mine is clearly the earlier variant.

Yes that’s exactly what I did. With the cable connected the display appears dead. With the cable disconnected it shows AL99 15 seconds after power on.

Does this suggest the display module itself is OK?

I would think the opposite applies. The power module clearly recognises that the display module was disconnected so that would rule out the power module.

Sorry, I don’t quite follow that reasoning. By power module do you mean what I’m calling the control module? I.e. the one that does the power switching for solenoids, pump etc. Surely if it’s disconnected then the display module is deciding for itself to put up AL99, which provides some confidence that the display module is not completely fupped. I note though that the display ‘module’ has 2 PCBs – the LCD PCB and what appears to be a PSU PCB, is that what you mean?

Neither of those faults would render the display inoperative. The electronics on Indesit appliances are known to be very flaky, full model, serial number and commercial code needed to ID any parts.

Thaks for the info. I’ll try and post photos to avoid any confusion about the LEDs, PCBs, etc.

I’ll check the NTC for O/C. Would it be worth tracing all the cables for faults? at this point I only have the door panel open. The 4-wire comms cable is checked OK from PCB to PCB.
