Many thanks for the quick response. I think it’s probably lighting / shadows as all of the soldered pins look very similar in daylight with no cracks, visible joins etc.

Will try and check the element but if it is then unfortunately I think it will be a new machine – I’m frustrated by this one going wrong every 18 months and it looks like £115 for the element. That’s 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of a new, cheaper end machine that still gets good reviews. I hate throwing stuff away but I can’t ignore the costs either.
