    Thanks Greaseater πŸ™‚

Can’t recall anyone having much of a good word to say of Baumatic on this forum (do correct me if I’m wrong πŸ˜‰ )

Re: where can I physically see a CDA oven?

We have just cleaned ours with a non-scratch multi-purpose cleaner (Ecover in our case), think it’s OK.

For anyone who was interested in our level of satisfaction with this product:
I’m no cooking fanatic but a friend of mine who is, and came to stay + cooked, said it was a really good oven.

The only thing we were unhappy with is that it came with only one ovenshelf, and that the grill pan (which can be used as a second ‘shelf’) was twisted ie wonky, and not very well designed as the handle is difficult to use.

Apart from that: looks good, performs well, and inexpensive for a basic single electric fan oven.

Thanks for the reply – your assessment sounds fair enough, and suspect you’re right about the Chinese manufacture.
I’d wondered (hoped) whether the longer warranty might mean it was a more highly regarded brand in a cheap wrapper, bit like supermarket cornflakes are supposed to be.

Hope you’re *not* right about the fact it is too cheap though, as most of the other manufacturers who have a f/freezer which fits the space (W55cm, max H145cm) and have freezer bit at bottom are in a similar price bracket. These are brands like LG, Beko. Probably not high on your list either!

Though would have to add that my current Beko larder fridge, which I bought second-hand and have owned 8 years, has always been fine.

Re: where can I physically see a CDA oven?

I’ve been now. For anyone who is interested/future reference: plenty of CDA appliances on display there.
I think we’re going to go for that cda oven πŸ™‚

Re: where can I physically see a CDA oven?

    oh good!
at least the details on the Norwood website are correct, then πŸ˜‰

CDA gave an address for an industrial estate in Beeston, and a 01484 code tel. no which they said must be head office! hmmmmn.

Re: where can I physically see a CDA oven?

Rang their sales number; they were very nice and i was given details of a Norwood Interiors in Leeds which may have a showroom.
Unfortunately the telephone number they gave me was that of an unsuspecting private household.
After looking them up on the internet, the address CDA gave me for their showroom was apparently also incorrect…
It will be interesting to see whether they actually stock CDA or not! πŸ˜‰

    thanks Don
I’d tried the website, too πŸ™‚

will contact them, just wondered if anyone happened to know as companies tend to be useless at that sort of info, for some reason.

Re: ceramic, halogen or magnetic hob?

    hi Don,

    Phew! πŸ˜‰

thanks for getting back to me.

for anyone else thinking of getting one: my friend mentioned some of the induction hobs she was shown beeped every time the level of heat was turned up or down – something she found highly irritating.

I would have found it extremely irritating, too – and it’s not something I would have thought of when buying the hob.

Re: ceramic, halogen or magnetic hob?

just popped in to post an update: hadn’t realised that there had been some more replies! Thanks all for comments.

We decided to go for the induction hob. We have just bought a Belling, mainly because it was a bargain – Β£400 reduced from Β£600ish – but also because someone we know had just bought one and finds it satisfactory, Γ‘nd it’s OK (according to manufacturer) to install over an oven (a small clearance is required).

Hopefully it’s not a problem brand?

Re: ceramic, halogen or magnetic hob?

Thanks Woz, and good luck with the De Dietrich πŸ˜‰
I’ve now been put off buying that one

Anyone here have knowledge of reliability/performance of Siemens or Baumatic? Do they have individual ‘elements’ like the Zanussi, or ‘whole unit’ like the Whirlpool, as mentioned earlier (those were helpful points; hadn’t thought of that aspect).
A lot of shops seem to be offering free sets of pans with the induction hobs πŸ™‚

I’ve read the ‘What’s in a name’ file now – looks like every manufacturer group has at least one German-sounding brand πŸ˜‰
Baumatic isn’t on the list – is it same as Bauknecht perhaps?

Re: ceramic, halogen or magnetic hob?

Dear all: thanks for all these replies, fantastic πŸ™‚

I don’t know *why* I keep saying ‘magnetic’ – it’s got stuck in my head; possibly something to do with the pan issue – but yes, induction is what I was talking about.

The De Dietrich was at a much reduced price, so I was hoping they were one of those brands well-known on the continent but little known here. In my (lay person’s) experience the German-sounding names tend to be very reliable (eg Bosch, Siemens, AEG, Miele), so the replies on that point are very useful.

I’m certainly not doing ceramic -spit- but will have further think about induction now that I’ve been told performance is as good as gas, and another good long look at prices. The pans I already have are suitable for use on induction, luckily.

Unfortunately the new kitchen is fairly small and the oven will have to go under the hob.

    any further comments/tips welcomed.
