This is already their 3rd and last attempt at a fix, so if ice does, sorry, when it forms again then I want a replacement, and not the same model!

It was the same engineer this time who fitted first “new” unit in July which he said at the time was a modified one.
Then another engineer who came on 29th September said there was a changed part since the one I had fitted in July, this is what he ordered.
No parts left this time and no packaging.
Work done receipts had this-
July- Set Shell Freezer Part. C00267025
Oct- Set Shell Freezer Part. C00272957So, different numbers might indicate that this time I have the modified part?

“hotpoint realised the middle of september.”
They realised what exactly, that they needed a modified kit, or that they had a problem?“both i have fitted still have the same fault”
The ones fitted earlier in the year, or just recently?“nad moduals have been n.stock for sometime”
Nad moduals? Do you mean new?Are you really just saying that mine will ice up again, or has the engineer fitted mine with a modified unit that works?

After waiting 4 weeks for parts despite the call centre promising me that they were due in after a week the engineer has just left after fitting a 2nd “Set Shell Freezer” (Heater unit?) replacement.
When he first arrived he said, “I’ve been here before haven’t I?”, I said , yes, In July, when you first fitted the mod’ that you said would cure the icing problem :rolls: He asked how long was it before it started icing up again, I said about 2 weeks 🙁
So here I am again with an ice free freezer, (Takes photo as I have rarely seen it like this since May 😉 ) I somehow have my doubts that it will last very long and once again I will be on the phone to Hotpoint to sell them some icicles 🙁

Another engineer has just been and got slightly irritated when I explained the problem and he said “I DO KNOW how it works”. He then said it must be air ingress around the door seals :rolls: , I said it isn’t and he said, “Well, I have to check these things”. Rivers of ice and 2 previous engineers was a big hint I thought that it wasn’t just air ingress!
He asked if I had the first call out service sheet and I showed him it and he saw that a complete “Set Shell Freezer” (heater?) had been fitted in July. He then telephoned his office and found that apparently since July an uprated(more powerful?) heater part and fan motor adaptor had been introduced. So he has ordered the upgrade “kit” and once in stock they will contact me with a fitting date.
So if this part has been available for quite a while why didn’t the engineeer who came the other week know about it? Surely this “known fix” should be listed on their laptops with all the other information for this fridge model especially when the icing up is widely reported?
Oh well, I will give it one last chance to be repaired as the fridge and freezer still work it’s just a mild annoyance with the ice formation.

I have just telephoned the service centre again and told them how unhappy I was that after 2 engineers PROMISED me they had cured the icing up problem it was happening again 😡
I said I wanted a replacement but this time for the normal “none frost free” model as I had no confidence that this design would ever work without ice formation. They said that they couldn’t authorise a repacement until my fridge had been written off which could only be done by an engineer if he said it wasn’t repairable! I told them that this hadn’t worked right from week 1 but they insisted that I must have a senior engineer call to see it.
They are coming on Tuesday and I’m certainly not going to accept any rubbish from them or that it can be “repaired” again. If they do kick up a fuss then it’s complaint time and words like “Merchantable quality”.

I called the service centre again and an engineer came out out on the 9th. He said that the reason the water was freezing was that there was a lip on the drain inside the freezer and ice was forming there 🙁 His solution was to apply more foil tape as ice “CAN’T” form on that which I was quite sceptical about :rolls: So he left quite confident that my problems were over 🙂
Twenty minutes after he had gone and the fridge came back on there was a very loud noise from the freezer fan sounding like it was catching on a wire 😡 I called the service centre straight away and he came back out and moved the catching wire 🙂
This time though when the fridge came back on it just didn’t sound right, far too quiet and a “hum” as though the fan was trying to turn but was stuck and a thermometer in the top fast freeze compartment indicated that it wasn’t getting very cold 🙁
The next morning the fan was sounding normal as though it had freed itself however when I opened the fridge and it cut out as normal there was a very loud noise as it slowed down saying it was catching wires again 😡
Another call and he came out YET AGAIN saying it was a slack bearing circlip which he adjusted with a “slight tap”, problem solved 🙂
As of today the ice is happily forming yet again around the vent in the freezer and water is spilling back into the freezer drawers and forming ice pools 😡
Can I really be bothered to get them out yet again ❓

He came back and fitted the mod’ and assured me it cured the problem on other freezers it had been fitted to 🙂
Within a few weeks the ice was once again forming in the freezer in exactly the same manner 🙁
I thought it was linked to using fast freeze function so I cleared the ice and tried leaving it without using fast freeze, no luck as ice still forming. So obviously Hotpoint have a poor design and as others have reported on review websites the sloping top shelf compartment is usesless for storage and the bottom shelf support design means the shelf always falls out 👿
I will phone soon and really want a refund so I buy a decent replacement as I can’t see this ever working “frost free”.
