for the benefit of those who might read this post with a similar problem.

No power to top oven bulb.
I have removed the ceramic hob unit (4 screws) and traced feed wire from bulb assembly back to thermostat which is connected to rear of top oven control knob.

    Cooling fan constantly on.

Therefore my best guess conclusion is a new thermostat which will solve both problems. At £103 for the part on an 11 year old Cooker and £300 for a new Cooker (cheap unit) I am in 2 minds as which route to take.

    Any thoughts anyone.

    Thanks for the feed back
Ok. Sounds like the Cermaic hob has got to come off to trace the feed to the lamp holder.

I noticed my earlier post about the cooling fan running on has been removed following your comment. Should I mention it in this one?.

I am considering (given I have 2 problems) to get an engineer, but again am not sure because the cost will probably be not to far off buying a new cooker – admittedly at the cheaper end of the market. The Cookers about 11 years old and works well expect for a light and fan. Seems a shame to throw away because of that.

I know your hands are tied in what you can say, but thanks for the help anyway.
