Installed new RS caps to front board this morning as per Big Brodders instruction and HEY Bingo!!! I have a perfect working unit and Cornwall is overflowing with ice and smooth chilled water and my house no longer flashes like picadilly circus!
Whirlpools work is all in vain ,
The amazing Brodders strikes again!!!!
He can put their junk to rights,
And save the world from flashing lights !!!!!Special thanks to Whitegoods and all others on here .

OK!!!
My front board caps arrived from RS today so I will attempt front board repair tomorrow.
Can anyone show me a pic of the front board and or a diagram as how to wire them in,I know they will replace the four coming out and I will have to stick them to the casing ,but not quite sure how to wire them with the flying leads!
I expect lots of you would like to see a sketch or something of this procedure.
I’m sure I read that the existing four caps are wired in series ,and from todays posts see that the new ones are to be wired in parrellel.
Perhaps if I offer Big brodder a pound of cream and nice pasty he could slip down to cornwall this evening and sort it.

Have just opened account with RS so should be able to get them, I might add that I have never repaired a circuit board before, so if I can achieve this most people can , will keep you informed!

Thanks for that have just noticed some ice is being made ,it takes about four button attempts to switch icemaking on ,and dispensing ice makes front display flash violently.
infrared beam lights for about 2 secs on opening door , so I will try to order the caps from RS if I can and go for front board upgrade.

Hi mate!
Flashing both displays,but only while icemaker is switched on.
icemaker is still not working,but otherwise all working OK.
will tackle front board next,but need to know what capacitors to replace and where to get them and which actual caps to buy.

Incidently, my faults before attempt to repair were occasional flashing display, clicking ,splurging water dispenser and icemaker not working!

Well today I tackled my rear board with the new kit!
Changed large capacitor and clicking was quieter, but still there,so
removed board and replaced the other seven capacitors.
On power up I now have flashing display all the time,it’s been on for 1 hour so I will see what the next 24 hours bring “fingerscrossed”Re: Whirlpool American Fridge Freezer broken down – help!
Hi Guys!
Just like to say a great THANKS!!! for all the efforts put in on here to help us humble fellows.
Ordered the repair kit on tuesday and it arrived this morning ,looks the biz and good instructions.
Only question is ,do capacitors have to be installed a certain way round ie: are they directional?
