Thanks for that. The PNC is 914 002 096 00, but I dont think it’s worth spending on.

I think I’m going to get a Beko from John Lewis with 2 years warranty. I’ve always gone for Zanussi in the past, but they’re not the machines they once were – especially with no filter!

Ah, looking at the price of a replacement spider, after 21 years I wouldn’t bother!

I haven’t seen it hitting the casing, but as it starts to spin it will bang as if it has hit the casing and depending how unbalanced it is, the bang turns into a knocking as the spin increases. If by any chance the machine balances the load, the spin is really smooth.

I did wonder about the spider. Not sure if that’s a job I can do. I’ll check out a few youtube videos.

I put it on a rinse cycle last night with an empty drum, it empties really fast. The spin cycle is silky smooth when the machine is empty, there is no up and down movement on the inner drum, which also moves freely.

Yeah it drains great, you can hear the force of the water as it’s connected to the U bend on the sink. The towels were the second load, the first was two pairs of jeans and three pairs combat style trousers.
Clutching at straws now but, could worn brushes cause a balancing issue? As far as I’m aware they’ve never been changed in 21 years, but the machine has never failed to go through a cycle – apart from when the pump needed replacing. It’s a shame if I’ve got to give up on it.

Yes they were, there was virtually no resistance in the old ones.

Well I replaced the dampers yesterday, but sadly the new ones seem to have made little difference. Doing a load of towels at the moment, and despite the machine trying to balance the load, it ends up going into a spin with the drum banging and the actual machine itself shaking continuously. I had to pause and restart the cycle before the machine shook itself to death! The two springs do not appear to be damged so I’m not sure where to go from her. At 21 years old I don’t want to spend much on the machine, despite the perfomance in all other aspects being far better than modern machines.

Thanks Dave. Looks like I need to place an order!

It has ‘Made In Germany’ on the front panel, but seen as it has the Zanussi ‘Jet System’ it believe it was assembled in Germany with Electrolux parts? Either way it’s a great machine

    Thanks for the reply.

I tested the heater, no earth faults.

Decided to get rid, rather than try and find someone to mess with the board.

I’m now using mom’s old AEG 72630 which will be 21 years old this October. Machine has always been used in soft water area (until now), with big box powders. Apart from small areas of the exterior paint starting to bubble, the machine still looks great and performs brilliantly. There is no limescale or sludge and no nasty smells! I replaced the pump for her, probably five or six years ago; apart from that it has never missed a beat! Long may it continue!

Ah, I’ve gone into diagnostics mode and got error code E66 on the display.
