Hi
Just to let you know that I used the repair service (see ebay in the UK) for the module board. Received back in less than 48 hours from sending – and all now works. Great !
Thanks for the advice etc on this thread that got me to this point
Cheers, David

Well on further looking there is a brown hold on the opposite side to the middle sized relay and a little discolouration. Its not that obvious but it could be the problem.
btw I have also discovered the test program and this runs to conclusion without any errors – or so it seems.
I guess I need to make decsion to now go and get the module repaired
Thanks David

Hi
I have the PCB boards out and I can’t see any obvious burn marks – whih seems strange. Could it still be the board ? Any idea what I should do next ?
Thanks

Hi
There is a guy on ebay doing repairs for about £50 – and seems to be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} rated.
Given earlier symptoms etc is the consensus that it is now likely to be the module that needs sorting ? Anything I can do to firm this diagnosis up ?
Thanks David

Hi
Thanks. The only item I can see on the ransomspares site is a “module” at £135 – wow that is a bit pricey. Especially as being no expert I can be 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} sure this is the right part.
Anyone out there willing to look at my circuit board and possible fix it (for a fee of cours) – or is that not a smart thing to do ?
Thanks

Hi
Thanks – it seems that this pipe being blocked is not the source of the problem.
I have also checked the voltage across the heater during a run and cant see anything so no power being fed to the heater.
I have also noticed something different as I have gone about my investigations. When I stop, and then restart a programme it doesnt always resume at the same time. eg it gets to 30 minutes and when I stop and restart it goes back to 72 minutes. Some times when I start a programme it comes up with a delay time eg 2h even though I havent pressed the delay button.
So my suspicion is that the control board is progressively failing.
What are people’s thoughts on this ? And any idea where I can get a replacement from as the spare parts on this website doesnt seem to list the part for this machine.
Many thanks, David

Hi
Have made progress since last post. Have sides and top off now.
So here is where i have got. The heater on open circuit seems to have 25ohms across it so I presume I can assume that is OK – i have measured it across the white device to the back on the right hand side. There are two main terminals situated horizontal to each other so I assume i have the right part.
I have cleaned out the chamber on the left hand side – i can see the blue amr moving in and out. I wasnt sure how this worked until after i cleaned it. There was some scale buildup but not terrible.
I havent removed the hose yet as still trying to work out how to get the front bottom of the machine off as that is where the hose seems to go. That said I can see water moving freely through the hose and the inside of the machine seems to have normal amount of water in it.
So in conclusion now starting to get to the parts but no obvious cause of the fault. I may have a closer look at the control board next.
What do people suggest ? And if I need a new board where can i get one from as my model doesnt seem to be listed.
Thanks David

Hi
Thanks.
Is the controller board the one behind the button on the top right hand side of the door – if so this looks OK from a visual perspective.
So am now trying to get into the side panel. I have removed the two screws that are at the front for each panel but silly thing is I cant see how to remove the panel itself and I cant locate any obvious other screws that might help. In earlier post it says to “Remove plug, lid, door outer, side panels and lower cover plate” – I am not sure I need to remove the door outer to get at the side but maybe the top has to come off ? It looks like the top hinges at the back but other than that it is very firmly secured onto the machine.
Can someone point me in the right direction to get the sides off ?
Thanks

Hi
Thanks – I will check that. Once I get to the pipes do I need to remove them to check they are not blocked or is there an easier way of checking this ?
Thanks

ParticipantHi
This is a very helpful thread as it exactly describes my problem – water not heating, 1 minute error – so I guess my heater element/control board is broken. Yet to take the machine apart to see which it is. Mine is a SGS5342GB/17 – about 9 years old.
I can see the spare heater element in the store area but cant see the controller board for my model. Any idea where I can get it from if that is what i find I need?
Thanks David
