Sorry guys. Nothing to do with health and safety. It’s the new gas regulations for multi purpose dwellings. The Hotpoint oven did not have a flame failure device and so couldn’t be delivered or installed. Not explained very well by whoever cancelled the delivery though.

Martin – I’m not missing the point at all. We ranged a Kenwood (Haier) dishwasher (from Nov 2004) and suffered the consequences. I was very close to the problems we encountered. As a result we have no relationship with Haier and do not range any of their products.

I work for a major retailer selling approx 300,000 ovens a year. We have had oven door failures as described in this thread for all brands. I have seen many complaint letters but never any injury of note. Glass oven doors do fail, the failure mechanism often described as an ‘explosion’ is admittedly scary for customers but tiny fragments of glass are far less harmful than long shards.
Incidentally I worked in brown goods previously and had the same complaints with TV stands using safety glass in their construction.

This product was made in China by a company called Little Swan. They no longer trade and Currys have not sold any of these products for about 2 years.
