Hello Dave, its been a few days since I last posted. I received my valve yesterday from uk whitegoods. Fitted it tonight and turned the machine on for the E wash cycle. I watched the whole cycle from start to finish, it went through the whole cycle faultlessly. You were right, the valve was faulty. Thank you very much for helping me out I really appreciate it. I would also like to thank the other members who were willing to help as well.
As I watched the wash cycle I did notice something that may or may not be a problem. Although the water came into the machine as it should and the towels were soaked. The water level didnt come up to the door at any time. Is this how it should be or should the water level be higher?

Thanks Dave, I will go ahead I think and replace the valve, Thanks again.

you could try this
turn machine to the rinses and let it fill. when it stops filling, assuming the motor does not start turning indicating its not full enough , turn it off at the plug and leave it for 15 mins or so then come back and switch on. if the timer is causing the problem i would expect it not to fill but if the valve is faulty, it will have cooled down and should start fillingor you could take the plunge and fit a new one

Hello Dave, I went through the precedure you mention above today. This is what happened. I put it in the rinse cycle and switched on, it started to fill then stopped, the drum didnt start turning. I switch off at the socket like you said for I think around 20/25 mins. I then switched on at the socket and it started to fill again then stopped. I switched off again at the socket then switched on again later and it started to fill, this time the drum kicked in and started to turn.
If this is the water inlet valve can I purchase one from UK whitegoods? Kind regards and thank you for your help.

Thanks Dave for your response, much appreciated. I will try the precedure you mention first and take it from there.

still could be a faulty valve . its not unheard of for the coils to stop working as they get hot then start as they cool.
when it stop filling try adding water in the soap draw to about a third of the way up the door and see if it starts while your doing it
Dave
Hello Dave, I have just followed through on what you suggested. This is how it went. I turned the dial to th D position for cotton. It went through the wash cycle perfectly. After it spun and entered the rinse cycle it started to fill with water but stopped after a few seconds. I waited for around 15 mins, it didnt fill again so I started to fill myself though the draw, after about 4 kettle fulls the motor kicked in. It went through about 6 or 7 drum turns the started to empty. When it started to fill for the next rinse it stopped again after a few seconds. I went through the same precedure and the motor kicked in again. I just moved the dial on then to finish the cycle.
Could you let me know your conclusions when you have a moment. Thank you. Fred.derfo

Hello iadom, I have just moved it on manually to the spin cycle and it spins great. Its the rinse cycle that the motor doesnt seem to kick in. I assume in the rinse cycle the drum turns normally. Could it be motor brushes if the motor works ok in other cycles?

I am hoping you can give me some suggestions from the info I have given up to now what could be wrong. You mention a faulty valve, do you mean the water inlet valve?

Hello iadom, I have the machine on the short silks cycle now. This is what is happening. It goes through the wash cycle fine, drains and then starts the rinse cycle. It puts water in for the rinse then stops. It stops for around 10 mins then puts more water in and stops. The drum doesnt turn at the rinse stage. I am 40 mins into the cycle now and its just started putting more water in. It seems the motor is not turning the drum in the rinse cycle.

Hello thank you for responding. It stays silent for an age when it gets to the rinse section on the dial, I think its around 3/4 an hour or more. I have not had chance to check it again since our last wash. I think on the last wash my wife moved it on as it was taking so long. I am going to do another check myself to get a more accurate picture.

Hello, thank you for responding. The outlet hose is connected.
