Hi, I ran the Superfrost over the weekend and the freezer got to -20 whilst the fridge got to +5.

Since both are above the set temperature am I to think this means there is problem with the refrigeration, e.g lack of refrigerant or compressor problem?

Yes there’s a noise all the time from the appliance although I can’t easily touch the compressor.

I can also reach round the back and touch a small diameter vertical pipe that is sometimes very hot and at other times is at ambient temperature. Presumably that indicates when cooling is happening.

Here are the results of some tests I ran today across several cooling cycles

    Fridge set temperature +1 deg
Minimum temperature on lowest shelf : +5 deg
Maximum temperature on lowest shelf: +9 deg

    Freezer set temperature: -32 deg
Minimum temperature in bottom drawer: -19 deg
Maximum temperature in bottom drawer: -5 deg

Since the set temperatures aren’t being reached does this mean there is a lack of refrigerant and/or a problem with the air sensor in the fridge?

    Thanks Tony.

I’m trying to work out if a new freezer sensor will fix the problem or if given it’s 16 years old it’s ability to cool is compromised (e.g. by losing refrigerant) which I guess could explain the alarm coming on.

If the refrigerant has gone I think I’m looking at a new appliance.

Roughly how long do these Liebherr appliances last before they lose their refrigerant or otherwise lose their ability to cool to the set temperatures?
