ParticipantRe: How do foreign bodies get into the drain pump?
Thanks for the reply.
Not exactly what I wanted to hear. Can I see this gap at the front?dkl1971
ParticipantRe: New simple, top notch washing machine
Thanks K.
I’m not after sweetness and light just the bottom line.
What is the position with the insurer now or do you no longer use one (or them).
Do you have a link to the T+Cs?dkl1971

The W256 meets all our requirements but a little digging on the net does bring up a number of unhappy campers regarding the warranty.
Now I don’t believe everything I read and I am very aware that the customer certainly isn’t always right but perhaps someone could tell me exactly what I should expect?
As a small company it needs to be service driven so come on people of ukwhitegoods, sell it to me.dkl1971
ParticipantRe: New simple, top notch washing machine
Interesting, thanks.
Same parts do you think?
5 yr guarantee (Gorenje) is a nice touch at present.dkl1971
ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
that’s the one I found. All the electrolux sites have the same part at that price. Nothing on Ebay curently.
I shall see if I can get this motor tested off the machine but 150 is lot to spend without knowing that it is the problem.
Seems a shame to give up now but I am being reminded that the washing doesn’t do itself!
Thanks for your help, I’ll post an up date as and whenRegards

ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
It seems that electrolux think the motor has a code of
1105361107 which matches what is on my sticker except the extra 7 on the end. They want £152 for one so that must be full whack – any hints as to where I might find a slightly more reasonable one?dkl1971
ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
Brush ends are nice and smooth.
I ran it again on short spin and whilst it drains and the motor buzzes somewhat it doesn’t turn.
I’m sure there is power to it.
Are replacement motors available and cost effective?dkl1971
ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
Can I do that? Or if I ask the question it means I probably can’t which is distinctly possible!
Thanksdkl1971
ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
I’ve just taken the brushes out and there is about an inch of carbon when fully extended. They don’t look that worn out to me?

ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
ok, dragged the motor out. Umpteen nos on it but the label says:
FHP motors
U2Z 112 G63 084502
5R 084502 683 FI 1428
110 536 110I’m hoping that means something.
There is also evidence of a little water having evaporated from the base of the machine. Any chance I have left a small leak when I did the pump and this has allowed enough water to damage something?

Thanks. The ad on this page (in my browser at least) is for the link you have given.
I’ll take it apart and have a look.dkl1971
ParticipantRe: Lavamat 86741 drum won’t rotate
Worth changing them anyway do you think?
Err where do I get them from – there are some on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AEG-Carbon-Br … 4612819de3these?
