The bottom line is that I have given up on trying to use this freezer so it is now sitting in my garage. I invested a lot of money on this one as LIebherr was recommended as reliable. Now I am without a freezer as we cannot again have contents defrosting because of this regular problem.
We are at the moment living without a freezer – buying fresh most days and using the fridge.I do not have the money to engage an engineer, but do have time and ability to track down the problem, buy and fit any necessary spares. I have 40 years experience in mechanical and electrical engineering so have some competency for repair – my first job was in a domestic appliance repair shop many years ago.
However, I do seek the basic information needed to diagnose the fault, i.e. a circuit diagram to show components and locations and preferably some details of how to remove the evaporator casing without smashing the plastic panels so it will go back together again.
If you can help with these specific requests then I would very much appreciate, but I cannot employ and engineer to fix this.

Thank you for your quick response ELDAR59. I would like to determine if the defrost heater element is OC or if it is a PCB control component problem – relatively easily rectified. It would help to get a circuit diagram so I can identify each component that may be U/S, individually test to track down the problem and rectify. I guess Liebherr do not provide diagrams for commercial or liability reasons, so am stuck at present.
In my experience economic repair by calling in Liebherr service engineer is not a practical proposition as I have been quoted large sums with no guarantee that the freezer would continue for another year. Disappointing really considering their good reputation for top end product and the price I paid for it.
If anyone can point me to the circuit diagram for this freezer I would be grateful.
