Ok – there was something stuck in the pump!
Thats the last time I buy her indoors a silver necklace with expensive real glass pendant on it! Really small pendant of course – and real glass! Poundland I think 😆
Tilted machine backwards against worktop. Two pipes disconnected from pump and electrical connection – removed pump – jiggled necklace out. Can now remove cover – bloody silly design with louvres all moulded as part of the cover so that things can get caught and stop the cover unscrewing. Put back together and tested pump still works. Result 😀
Thanks for your help guys – much appreciated!

Penguin45 and fellow members.
Thanks for all your input – I was only asking if this cover could easily be removed or was designed not to be removed. I didn’t intend to start a heated debate between members on the cons of a particular make/model.
Penquin45 please note I have not responded to your posts in any negative way – and I appreciate your input and obvious knowledge.
I will remove the pump from underneath tomorrow because I don’t want to risk snapping the cover. I had never thought that the design could actually allow an obstruction to jam the cover – but it is obvious when you point it out. Other covers I have encountered have basically just been a flat disk – but looking at the shape of this it is obviously more involved than that.
Thanks again – will post the outcome later tomorrow.

Thanks for the quick reply.
We are careful to remove items from pockets!
I have had about 6 washing machines in the last 35 years and I have had my fair share of fixing them – usually motor brushes, belts etc.
With my previous Bosch washer I could unscrew the filter/pump cover and I did find 2 quid once! Result.
It is just that the filter/pump cover on this model seems not to unscrew completly – and I am not sure if it designed like that or a special method of unscrewing it or if something is blocking it. A bit nervous about using to much force to unscrew. The manual does not even mention this cover – and says the machine has a ‘Self-Cleaning filter’.
I will have to remove the machine and take it apart to get to it I suppose. This is the first washer I have not fitted in myself – it is intergrated and was fitted at the same as a new kitchen – so it will be interesting to see what sort of job the ‘professionals’ did!
