    Martin: thanks for your reply.
So would I be right in thinking that
1 it needs to be cleaned out manually?
2 access is by tipping the machine backwards and going in from the base? or do I need to remove a panel below the door?

    Thanks for your help.

I have an identical (or very similar) problem, also with a Siemens machine 5 years old. We use it on low temp washes mostly, which I guess has not helped. It “chugs” 10 times or so when filling at 2 or 3 second intervals. Model is SE26T550GB.

from reading the thread, I understand that a pipe or filter is partly blocked under the machine, and has become so due to a combination of the cold water fill and the initial “cold” rinse of dirty plates (BTW, we rinse our plates pretty thoroughly).

Question: does the hot water go through this are during the wash cycle? if so, can I put some washing soda into the machine when it fills for the main hot wash, and would this help to clear the blockage? Or would washing soda cause damage? if not, how much should I use?
