ParticipantRe: Liebherr IKB3650 – icing up
Engineer arrived today and duly swapped out both sensors (biofresh & the one up the back whose title I can’t remember).
He also said that problems with Liebherr fridges were pretty rare (then we both compared notes on S*ms&&g and agreed they were a different breed entirely – almost engineered to fail).
So – start to finish, I’d say my initial concerns were completely unfounded.
Liebherr and its (sub-contracted) engineer sorted things out quickly and with no haggling over warranty-terms, etc.
I’m a happy bunny & grateful to those of you that helped steer me in the right direction.

Just received a call from the engineer (I’m most impressed he’s still working this late).
All being well, he’ll be along on Monday late morning.

Thanks for the phone number!
Called them just now 0910h and spoke to ‘Jackie’.
Very helpful, took details (noting purchase was at end of May 2008) and said an engineer would contact me later today/earlier on Monday to arrange an appointment.
So far, so good…

Location is Surrey.
Any tips for a good number to contact Liebherr on would be much appreciated.
With thanks

ParticipantRe: Liebherr IKB3650 – icing up
Hmmm – I haven’t noticed an error-code (I assume it would appear where the temperature is normally displayed?)
The ice itself is on the panels to the back of the unit & is clear, hard material – not the more opaque, white, fluffy stuff.
I noticed just now, that the ice has now grown to cover a vent (approx one inch square with slots cut in it) to the righthand side of the back. That obstruction isn’t the underlying cause of the problem (because the ice had to spread far enough to get there) but now I’m wondering what that vent does and how serious a deal it is for it to be blocked?

Thanks for your speedy reply.
I have already checked the seals are sealing but thanks for the tip all the same.
I’m also heartened to learn that this is not a common problem with that model (phew!)
And don’t worry – I don’t intend to start off ‘all guns blazing’ with Liebherr but I’ve read things elsewhere that lead me to believe that they might hide behind the ‘one year warranty’ excuse.
I’ll start off ‘nice’ & will let you all know how it progresses.
If their support is as good as their products are (supposed to be) then it’s only fair that they should be rewarded for a positive attitude.
Of course, the opposite will also hold true.
Fingers crossed though…
