    Hi mark the machine sounds like it has 2 stats and a thermistor
    the thermistor is usually one piece moulded
    unlike the stats if both stats are ok it could be the thermistor
    some hotpoint machines have a front one as well as a rear

    tried the ty wrap method
    found it works now carry some in the old tool box
